That’s the sound of The Advocate continuing to chip away at the Times-Picayune’s dominance of the New Orleans market. Yesterday brought the following announcements:
- Jeff Adelson has left the Times-Picayune, where he was a political reporter, to cover Jefferson Parish for The Advocate.
- Chad Calder, formerly a business reporter for The Advocate, will join Adelson on the Jeff Parish beat.
- Faimon Roberts will now cover St. Tammany Parish after having covered East Baton Rouge Parish and general news for The Advocate.
- Sharon Edwards, who wrote St. Tammany community and entertainment reports at the Picayune for 17 years, is the new community news editor in The Advocate’s St. Tammany office, which is headed by Sara Pagones, another former Picayune veteran.
With its continued staff increases and emphasis on parish reporting, “The New Orleans Advocate” is making good on its promise to cover the entire area.
On the other side of the battle lines, NOLA Media Group announced that JR Ball will head up that organization’s Baton Rouge bureau. Ball was previously the executive editor of the Baton Rouge Business Report.
